Description

Diamond core bit 62mm REMS 181025 R features six high-concentration diamond segments bonded by automated induction brazing. The bit reaches 420 mm drilling depth and carries a UNC 1 1/4 female thread. It cuts reinforced concrete, all types of masonry, natural stone, asphalt and screed layers. Operators can drill dry or wet, hand-held or mounted on a drill stand.

The beveled crown design reduces vibration when the bit penetrates steel reinforcement. The thread self-tightens during operation, eliminating the need for additional locking tools. When segments wear down, they can be re-brazed with new diamond tips, extending the life of the steel tube and lowering replacement costs.

Diamond core bit 62mm construction and brazing method

The cutting crown carries six segments filled with high-concentration diamond grit. Induction brazing distributes heat evenly across each joint, preventing localized hot spots that can crack the segment. The beveled crown profile helps the bit self-center on contact, reducing runout and improving hole accuracy.

  • Six high-concentration diamond segments
  • Automated induction brazing for uniform joints
  • Beveled crown profile for smooth entry
  • Segments can be re-brazed when worn
  • Steel tube reusable after segment replacement

Induction brazing ensures consistent bond strength and thermal resistance during continuous drilling. The beveled design allows the bit to engage the surface gradually, minimizing lateral load on the motor. Re-brazing capability is a significant advantage over single-use laser-welded bits, especially in high-volume applications.

Dimensions and thread connection

The bit measures Ø 62 mm in diameter and 420 mm in drilling depth. It carries a UNC 1 1/4 female thread that mates with male spindles on REMS Picus S1, SR, S3 and S2/3.5 machines. The thread self-tightens under rotation, maintaining a secure connection without auxiliary clamps.

  • Drilling diameter: Ø 62 mm
  • Drilling depth: 420 mm
  • Thread: UNC 1 1/4 female
  • Self-tightening thread under load
  • Compatible with REMS Picus series

UNC 1 1/4 is a common industrial standard for core-drilling spindles. The 420 mm depth is sufficient for thick walls, reinforced-concrete slabs and can be extended with coupling adapters for deeper holes. The 62 mm diameter suits medium-bore applications such as utility penetrations and anchor installations.

Material compatibility and drilling modes

This bit cuts concrete, reinforced concrete, all masonry types, natural stone, asphalt and screed. It operates in both dry and wet modes. Wet drilling prolongs segment life and reduces dust. Dry drilling is faster when water supply is unavailable.

  • Concrete and reinforced concrete
  • All types of masonry
  • Natural stone
  • Asphalt
  • Screed layers
  • Dry or wet drilling

The beveled crown reduces shock when the bit encounters steel rebar, protecting both the segments and the motor. Wet drilling flushes debris from the kerf and cools the segments, extending their service interval. Dry drilling is practical for shallow holes or when water would damage surrounding finishes.

Common applications

Contractors use this 62 mm bit to drill utility penetrations through walls and floors, install anchor bolts in concrete foundations, and create openings for HVAC ducts. The 420 mm depth handles standard residential and light-commercial wall thicknesses. Re-brazable segments lower operating costs on multi-hole projects. The bit fits REMS Picus drill stands for precise vertical or horizontal boring.

Machine compatibility

The UNC 1 1/4 female thread fits REMS Picus S1, SR, S3 and S2/3.5 core-drilling machines. It also mates with other brands that use UNC 1 1/4 male spindles. The self-tightening thread maintains torque transfer without slippage during heavy loads.

  • REMS Picus S1
  • REMS Picus SR
  • REMS Picus S3
  • REMS Picus S2/3.5
  • Other machines with UNC 1 1/4 male spindle

Compatibility with the Picus family ensures stable mounting and efficient power transmission. The thread standard allows cross-brand use, giving operators flexibility in equipment selection. Self-tightening action reduces setup time and eliminates the risk of loosening under vibration.
