Pruning shear maintenance kit components and function

FELCO 2 pruning shear and spare blade

The FELCO 2 pruning shear features hardened steel blades and an ergonomic handle. The spare blade (2/3) allows quick replacement when the original wears. Both parts are manufactured in Switzerland to tight tolerances. The shear handles branches up to 25 mm in diameter.

• FELCO 2 pruning shear with bypass cutting action
• Spare blade 2/3 for immediate replacement
• Hardened steel construction for edge retention
• Ergonomic handle design reduces hand fatigue
• Maximum cutting diameter: 25 mm

The bypass design delivers clean cuts that promote faster plant healing. The spare blade ensures uninterrupted work during peak pruning seasons. Blade replacement takes less than two minutes with the included wrench.

Sharpening and adjustment tools

The FELCO 905 sharpener restores blade edges without removing material excessively. The 2/30 adjustment wrench allows precise tension control on the pivot bolt. Both tools fit easily in a pocket or tool belt. Proper sharpening maintains cutting efficiency and reduces hand strain.

• FELCO 905 sharpener for blade edge restoration
• Adjustment wrench 2/30 for pivot tension control
• Compact design for field use
• Compatible with all FELCO bypass pruners

Regular sharpening every few hours of use keeps blades performing at peak efficiency. The wrench prevents over-tightening that can damage the pivot mechanism. Together, these tools extend the interval between major service.

Cleaning and lubrication products

The FELCO 981 resin remover dissolves sap and plant residue that accumulate during cutting. The FELCO 980 lubricant spray protects metal surfaces from corrosion and reduces friction. The FELCO 990 grease maintains smooth pivot action under load. A cleaning cloth completes the care cycle.

• FELCO 981 resin remover spray for sap and residue
• FELCO 980 lubricant spray for corrosion protection
• FELCO 990 grease for pivot and bearing points
• Cleaning cloth for wiping surfaces

Apply resin remover after each work session to prevent buildup. Spray lubricant on blades and springs before storage. Grease pivot points monthly or after exposure to moisture. This routine prevents rust and ensures smooth operation.

Common applications

This kit serves vineyard workers who prune grapevines daily and need reliable cutting tools. Orchard managers use it to maintain shears during fruit tree training. Landscape contractors rely on the kit for hedge trimming and shrub shaping. Home gardeners benefit from the complete care solution for rose pruning and perennial cutback. The kit also supports nursery staff who propagate cuttings and require clean, precise cuts to minimize plant stress.

Care and storage

Store the kit in a dry location away from direct sunlight. Keep spray cans upright to prevent leakage. Wipe the shear blades after each use to remove plant material. Apply lubricant before long-term storage to prevent corrosion. Check blade sharpness weekly during heavy use. Replace the blade when sharpening no longer restores cutting performance. The kit provides all materials needed for routine care without additional purchases.
